Wakefield Hall of Fame

Lawrence Paul Bartnick

Lawrence Bartnick was an ‘Honor Pupil’ as excellent academic students were called in 1942.  In addition, he was president of his class his junior and senior year and involved with many other activities such as student council and even Junior Air Raid Warden in the worrisome World War II years of the early 1940’s.  In sports, he could do it all.  He participated in basketball, baseball, track and football all four years in high school and earned the captain position in each sport his senior year.  Football and baseball was where he was most effective and on this website you can visually see some of his accomplishments in a Wakefield football uniform such as; longest runs from scrimmage, punt returns, and kickoff returns and  single season scoring record - just missing the 102 career points cutoff with 96.  It would be interesting to know, if the statistics could be obtained, where he stood in total yards gained.

Larry later attended Dartmouth University where he lettered 3 years in football.
