Wakefield Hall of Fame

Sean R. Mitchell

Sean Mitchell set the bar for Wakefield’s wrestling program in 1985 when he won the 122 pound class Division 1 State Championship.  This achievement helped to establish a strong and fundamental wrestling program at Wakefield High School.  His four win tournament run was the result of a dedication to his craft which included intense off-season training and attending camps and programs made available from other town’s wrestling programs.

Sean was known as an athlete who through grit, determination and hard work transformed himself from a good wrestler to one who became a terrific one, winning the ultimate prize, a state championship.

Sean was a three year letterman in wrestling and served as co-captain his senior year.  He was Middlesex League Most Valuable wrestler in 1985.  Sean’s career record is 24 wins, 3 losses and 2 ties.
