Wakefield High School Football 1900

The year 1900 was not the beginning of Wakefield football but here is where we are forced to start.  Although there are only four games listed on this page there definitely were more games but were not reported in the local papers.  The Debater, the name of Wakefield’s yearbook for graduating high school seniors for the first third of the 1900’s, are not available for every year, either at the Beebe Library or at the Wakefield Historical Society Museum.  They do provide a reasonable account of a football season when available and maybe copies of these older yearbooks will be found in someone’s attic and this page will be completed statistically.

Mr. Edmond did score a touchdown in the game against Reading.  Touchdowns were 5 points in those days.  There are no details for the scoring in the other games.
