Wakefield High School Football 1919

The 1919 Wakefield Varsity Football Team got of to a bad start by losing their first three games but then, except for one point, they would have gone undefeated for the remaining ten games in the season.  Leslie ‘Tate’ Cummings HOF proved to be a major star in establishing single season scoring and all-time career scoring numbers which still are among the top all time in Wakefield football history.  Other highlights would have to be Edmund Dagnino’s 85 yard fumble recovery and return for a touchdown against Woburn – the same game Tate Cummings set an all time school record by scoring  6 touchdowns.

Tate Cummings is seated in the front row center of this 1919 football team picture.
