Wakefield High School Football 1962

If not for a forfeit loss because of an ineligible player, in a game in which they beat Concord 34-0, Wakefield would have won the Middlesex League title in 1962. As it was, Wakefield (5-1-1) did share the title with Melrose (5-0-2) that year when the league voted for a co-championship. This was a powerhouse team on both sides of the ball. They scored 214 points (23.77 points per game,) had 5 shutouts - including their last 4 and only allowed 40 points (4.44 points per game) all year.

In February of 1963, to commemorate a great season, the team traveled to Washington D.C. to meet with President John F. Kennedy and presented him with a football at the White House.
